I've been missing from DA for long. Busy with work. Animation's a killer but I still love it. Anyway, since I found myself in a rather free-of-tasks moment, thought I'd write something here.

I'm in Annecy, France, right now. Been here for 2-3 days for Annecy 2009. First time in France and I don't understand the language. Not one bit. But it's a beautiful language. Well, it sounds beautiful to me. Haha.

So what have I been doing at this awesome animation festival? For the past 2 days, I've been going around checking out animation screenings. Some were great. Some were terrible. All my own opinions, of course. Gobelins animations never ceased to amaze me. D:

I'm in a little hurry now. Wish I could write more about the stuffs I saw/experienced here. After all, it is my first time visiting France and especially, Annecy.

Ups and downs with work and personal life. I'm still waiting for my debit card so that I can apply for PayPal and perhaps begin to offer commission services. I need some extra moolah and more practice with my drawing.

For now, I'm doodling quite often with Flash. It's fast and easy.

It's not really surprising that how artworks and contests can spark dissatisfaction and even envy. But it makes me wonder how can someone (especially some being artist themselves) can bring themselves to come up with variety of complaints and accusation of the artworks people do. Especially to winners of art contests.

Heck. I am envious of my buddy, *sexyblue, for winning the recent Okami contest here in DA. But who cares? Haha. He won it fair and square. It was the judges' decision. The entries were made for a purpose; to please the judges. It may sound a little wrong but aren't entries for contests were submitted solely for that reason?

People who whine and bitch about not winning or not having some of their favourite entries winning are really unprofessional and immature. Especially those who are artists themselves.

Just look at it this way; for the great entries who didn't win - be proud that you have created a good artwork whether you win or not. You don't need any validation from anyone if you have achieved what you've wanted to create in your artwork.

Bah. I don't think I'm making myself clear right now. Just that, the aftermath of this contest took a very disappointing turn. These people who made all these complaints are really pitiful.

And I'm not taking Ed's side just 'cause he's my friend. I have seen a lot of amazing entries too. Too many that I didn't even think this silly blue idiot would win. Hahahahaha.

My day job's been merciless ever since 2008 began as I was given the opportunity to lead a team as an animation director/senior animator. But the project is great and it's definitely a challenge.

I haven't had the time to draw much but I'm trying to get myself back into it (Bad Jason!). So I'm interested in doing commissions. Sketch or characters commissions. I haven't confirmed the pricing at the actual types of art I'd do for now. But I'll be looking into. So hang on for a couple of days if anyone's interested.

I'll posted the details here once everything is ready. So meanwhile, go check out *sexyblue. He does awesome artworks for commissions too.
